ERIE-AREA ATHLETES COMPETE IN SPECIAL OLYMPICS AT PENN STATE BEHREND

Penn State Behrend athletics hosted the annual Erie City Schools Special Olympics on Friday, April 28 at the outdoor Behrend track and field facility.

Approximately 150 athletes from six Erie City Schools were present. Participates ranged from elementary to high school age and competed in the 50-yard and 100-yard walk/run, long jump, high jump, and softball throw.

Special Olympics is an organization that develops activities for individuals with special needs in the greater Erie area. It is solely based around volunteers and relies on members of the community to participate in the events
