PANTHERS SPEND FRIDAY AFTERNOON VOLUNTEERING AT SCHOOL STREET ELEMENTARY

On Friday, April 13, Univerity of Pittsburgh at Bradford students and student-athletes spent the afternoon volunteering at School Street Elementary School.

Friday marked the first action in a pilot program headed by Athletics Administrative & Academic Support Specialist Jen Brown. After a successful first day at the school, students will participate in the program weekly starting in September 2018, going on the first Tuesday of every month.

"The mission of this program is to promote diversity and inclusivity to all members of Bradford community," Brown said. "This initiative starts with Pitt-Bradford students being engaged academically and personally with the students of School Street Elementary."

Students provided teachers with classroom support with their current lesson plan or activity, reading aloud to various classes, participating in the Veteran's parade and having personal conversations with the students.

The Panther students also taught math and played board games with the School Street students.
