AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR JANUARY 6-12, 2020

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's and women's basketball and swimming & diving for the period running from January 6-12, 2020. 

Women's Swimming: PS-Altoona FR Grace Dangelo tallied three individual first place finishes in the Lady Lions' 76-40 win at home over non-conference opponent Bethany on Saturday, including setting a new women's swim team record for the fourth time this season. Dangelo took first place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:11.46, which bested the previous Penn State Altoona women's swimming program record of 11:30.04. She also won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.94, and she prevailed in the 100 Yard Backstroke by clocking in at 1:02.84.

Men's Swimming: PS-Behrend SR Quinn Fischer had three wins, two individual and one relay, to help the Lions remain undefeated in dual-meet action with a 128-79 victory at W&J. He was first in the 200 freestyle (1:47.89) and 100 freestyle (49.11), while swimming a leg on the winning 200 medley relay.

Women's Basketball: Hilbert G Emily Gawlak led her team to two AMCC victories by averaging 21 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 3.0 assists last week. Gawlak recorded 19 points, nine rebounds, five steals, and six assists in the win against Altoona. In conference play only, she leads the league with 18.9 points per game, is third in minutes per game and fifth in steals.

Men's Basketball: Mount Aloysius F Carlos Palacio led the Mounties to an impressive two wins against D'Youville and Hilbert during the week, as part of their current three-game win streak. He averaged a double-double for the week, with 24 points in each game and 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively. While recording his double-doubles, he also shot 62.5% from the field and 54.5% from deep, going 6-for-11 on the week. In Saturday's win against Hilbert, Palacio also registered five blocks and three assists.
