MOUNT ALOYSIUS, MEDAILLE TIED AFTER DAY ONE OF BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Day one of the AMCC women's bowling championship proved to be an exciting one as #1 Mount Aloysius College and #3 Medaille College are tied for first place with identical 4-1 records.
Day one of the AMCC women's bowling championship proved to be an exciting one as #1 Mount Aloysius College and #3 Medaille College are tied for first place with identical 4-1 records.
The Mavericks started the day out strong, as the third seed defeated the top-seeded Mounties by a single pin, 893-892. Mount Aloysius then rebounded by winning out the rest of the day. Medaille dropped their second match of the day, an 849-771 decision to #4 Pitt-Bradford.
Mount Aloysius senior Jill Vietmeier and Medaille freshman Jennifer Dennie tallied single-game highs of 233. The Mounties were led by sophomores Beth Longer and Jessica Bello who averaged 196.2 and 186.6, respectively. Medaille sophomore Michelle Magee carried the Mavericks with a 184.6 average.
#2 New Jersey City University and #4 Pitt-Bradford, each with 3-2 records, end the day tied for third place. Sophomore Autumn Fortunato paced the Gothic Knights with a 182.4 average, while Pitt-Bradford's Brianna Saylor ended the day with a 179.8 average.
#5 Penn St. Altoona picked up their lone victory of the day, a 632-581 victory over the Tomcats. Lion senior Brea Suchonic averaged a 179.8 on the day, while #6 Thiel College sophomore Brianna Gibbs rolled a 134.4 during day one.
