Professors Maryann Hobar, Mark Paoni, Kathleen Pierino, Donna Zimpfer, Joe Rath, and Carraugh Reilly Nowak coordinated efforts for the September 26th outing and spread out with students along South Park Avenue and Sowles Road to clean and beautify a stretch of roads surrounding Hilbert's campus. The Hilbert men's basketball team, under the direction of head coach Rob deGrandpre, jumped in for the good cause and put their muscles to work.
For the 23rd year in a row about 40 students volunteered - including 15 Hawks from the men's basketball program comprised of players, managers and coaches.
The Criminal Justice and Forensic Investigation Association provides an informal setting for students and faculty to discuss ideas, current events and careers in criminal justice and forensic investigation. Students have the opportunity to visit police, correctional and juvenile facilities, as well as participate in community service activities such as the Adopt-a-Highway program or efforts for Renaissance House.
The men's basketball team also coordinates community service efforts during the year with local volunteer work near campus, raising hunger-awareness during the winter holiday months in an effort to support the Buffalo City Mission.
