The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Athletics Department, with the assistance of the Office of Community Engagement, Facilities Management, and Metz Culinary Management, collected more than 110 cases of bottled water to be delivered to True Bethel Church in Buffalo, N.Y. on Thursday afternoon.
Cases of bottled water were collected during Wednesday night’s basketball games against Penn State Behrend and throughout the day Thursday. Supporters for both teams contributed to the cause.
Once the cases of water arrive in Buffalo, they will then be sent to Flint, Mich. to provide the residents with clean water. Flint remains in a public health emergency due to their unfiltered tap water's rising lead levels, leading many residents to rely on donated bottles of water.
Members of the Pitt-Bradford baseball team, athletic department, facilities and Metz Culinary Management assisted in loading the box truck to be delivered to True Bethel Church in Buffalo.
