On Thursday, October 22, the Pitt-Greensburg women’s basketball team and coaching staff joined Captain Pamela Rhodes of the Greensburg Salvation Army at the Kmart in Latrobe to help with Project Bundle-Up. This program provides needy and disabled senior citizens and disadvantaged children, ranging from infants to teens, with winter outerwear. Eligibility for Project Bundle-Up is based on economic need and vouchers are provided to selected participants to obtain winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots.
For the sixth year in a row, Pitt-Greensburg players and coaches took children on personal shopping trips to select their winter outerwear. They also assisted the Salvation Army in a variety of other ways, including checking-in families, explaining and distributing vouchers, and helping cashiers track and bag purchases. Project Bundle-Up is just one of the wonderful programs and services offered by the Greensburg Salvation Army, which has been serving the local community since 1903.
