BEHREND BASEBALL GIVES BACK TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
The Penn State Behrend Lions baseball program participated in its annual commitment with Habitat for Humanity on Monday, November 17. The baseball program players and coaches provided demolition work on a home that Habitat for Humanity will resurrect.
"Habitat provides an amazing opportunity for us to give back to the Erie community," said head coach Paul Benim. "We are blessed that our baseball program took advantage of a chance to make a difference this November. We played a small role helping contribute to Habitat for Humanity. They are an organization that does a wonderful job assisting families."
In previous years with Habitat, the baseball program has built storage sheds for new homes, completed roofing, worked on interiors and exteriors of homes, and organized the Habitat warehouse. "This is a great experience for our team," said junior Colin Bolla. "We get to give back to our community, working together building valuable skills and helping out those in need. I am grateful for the opportunity that Habitat for Humanity provides."
Habitat for Humanity builds and rehabilitates houses and neighborhoods by providing simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership with families in need. Reaching out from Christian roots across denominational, faith, economic and racial lines, Habitat works in partnership with prospective and existing homeowners, volunteers, donors, community organizations and all those who can help reach these goals.
Senior Joey Fazzone shared, "I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work alongside my teammates for Habitat for Humanity. It feels great knowing that our efforts are helping making a positive impact within the Erie Community."
