AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR FEBRUARY 26-MARCH 4, 2024
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's volleyball, baseball, and tennis and women's softball and lacrosse for the period running from February 26-March 3, 2024.

Baseball (Player): Pitt-Bradford C/INF Evan Fragela hit .455 with two home runs, six runs scored and five RBI as the Panthers went 2-1 in their second week of play. In the tough extra-inning loss to Fredonia, Fragela was 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBI while also drawing two walks and stealing a base. Behind the plate, he threw out two base runners stealing.
Baseball (Pitcher): PS-Behrend SR Jeff Zick picked up two wins in two starts for the Lions to begin the season, pitching 6.1 innings and only allowing one run on three hits and striking out seven. In the season-opener at Lancaster Bible, he tossed two innings with two strikeouts. On Sunday vs. Wilkes, Zick threw 4.1 scoreless innings, only giving up one hit and striking out five batters.
Softball (Player): PS-Behrend 3B Jocelyn McNany went 4-for-6 with five RBI in a pair of wins for the Lions. She had a double and a triple for her pair of hits vs. Hiram and then smacked a home run and scored the eventual game-winning run vs. Wittenberg. McNany had a .667 average and recorded 13 putouts in the field.
Softball (Pitcher): Hilbert FR Kailey Stolowski powered Hilbert to the program's first victory since 2019 after tossing her first complete game while allowing four hits, one walk and fanning 16 batters against Penn State Schuykill. She then closed the night cap with another three hitless innings against Lancaster Bible while striking out seven more batters. She opened her career with a 2-0 record, 23 stikeouts while keeping both opponents from crossing home plate.
Men's Volleyball (Offensive): Hilbert OH Brad Converse had a dominant performance for the Hawks with 19 kills, hitting .362, while adding 11 digs, two blocks and an ace in a 3-1 victory over Wells. For the week, Converse averaged 3.86 kills and 2.29 digs per set, while hitting .315 on the week.
Men's Volleyball (Defensive): Hilbert L Mike Pozzuto put up a strong defensive showing for the Hawks with 17 digs, 26 receptions at .923, and two assists. Pozzuto averaged 4.25 digs per set in a 3-1 win over Wells. For the week, he totaled 26 digs, averaging 3.71 digs per set.
Women's Lacrosse (Offensive): La Roche A Jasey Reiser returned to the field this season and was the leader of La Roche's offensive attack in its season opener against Wilson. Despite the loss, Reiser scored a pair of goals, taking five shots in the game, three of which were on target. Furthermore, Reiser had three ground balls, a pair of draw controls and caused three turnovers.
Women's Lacrosse (Defensive): La Roche D/GK Juliana Hornikel had a strong start to the season in the Redhawks matchup against Wilson. Despite the loss, in goal, Hornikel halted 15 shots, but also added five ground balls and a caused turnover to the goalkeepers stat sheet for the game.
Men's Tennis: PS-Behrend FR Akash Sangha did not give up a set point at No. 2 singles while also earning an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles as the Lions defeated Thiel 8-1 in non-conference action on Friday.
