AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR AUGUST 29-SEPTEMBER 3, 2024
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's soccer, cross country, men's golf, women's volleyball, and women's tennis for the period running from August 29-September 3, 2024.

Men's Soccer (Offensive): Mount Aloysius SR Juan Camacho began his senior campaign on fire. Trailing 3-0 in their first game of the season, with just 15 minutes remaining, Camacho scored twice on penalty kick goals, to cut the lead to 3-2. Then with just over seven minutes remaining, he scored the game-tying goal before following that up less than a minute later with the game-winning goal, scoring four goals in less than eight minutes of game time and setting a new program single game record. Camacho finished the weekend with two more goals in the Mounties' loss to Buffalo State, earning him honors on the All-Tournament team.
Men's Soccer (Defensive): PS-Behrend D Brock Kiefer tallied an assist in the 77th minute, while playing a pivotal role on the defensive end all game to help Behrend secure a 3-1 win over MCLA in the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament Saturday.
Women's Soccer (Defensive): PS-Behrend GK Riley Morningstar earned two shutouts to start the season in the opening HLM Tournament. She tallied five saves and two wins, holding No. 8 John Carroll scoreless to help the Lions capture the tournament for the first time since 2021.
Women's Soccer (Offensive): PS-Behrend M Nicole Croushore scored a pair of game-winning goals in the opening games of the season to help the Lions capture the HLM Tournament. She tallied the first of four goals vs. Franciscan and then netted the game-winner to defeat No. 8 John Carroll, 1-0.
Women's Volleyball (Offensive): Pitt-Greensburg OH Madison Friess led the Bobcats in five matches over Labor Day Weekend with 56 kills and 63 digs. She averaged 3.29 kills per set and 3.71 digs per set. She also accumulated 68 points. The Bobcats earned their first win of the season over Wilson on Monday in a 3-0 sweep.
Women's Volleyball (Defensive): Carlow JR Rebecca Hess led the Celtics to a 2-1 record with 32 kills, 44 digs and eight service aces following Carlow's final game of the USCAA Tip-Off Tournament. Hess averaged 4.40 digs per set and added five blocks to lead her team on the defensive side of the net.
Men's Golf: Mount Aloysius FR Josh Nicholl carded a two-under par, 70, in his first ever tournament for Mount Aloysius, one behind the leader after Day One. Nicholl added a 75 on Sunday, for a two-day total of 145, which earned him a spot tied for second. His two-day total tied him for the program record in a two-day tournament, while his single round of 70 is the best ever shot by a Mountie freshman. The team score of 290 on the first day was also a program record for a single round.
Women's Tennis: PS-Altoona SO Lexi Colaianni went undefeated this past weekend to help the Lions get their 2024 season off to a 2-0 start in a pair of home matches. In Saturday's win over AMCC opponent Carlow, she had a 6-0, 6-3 victory in No. 6 singles while being part of a 6-2 win in No. 3 doubles. In Sunday's triumph over Waynesburg, she prevailed 6-1, 6-0 in No. 6 singles and 6-2 in No. 3 doubles.
Men's Cross Country: PS-Behrend SO Lucas Boyd ran a seventh place time of 16:32.58 to earn a top finish for Behrend at the Westminster-Fisher Invite on Friday.
Women's Cross Country: Carlow JR Ella Cloak led the Celtics and raced to second place overall finish at the Wolfpack Invitational with a personal best time of 22:46.1.
