AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR MARCH 30-APRIL 5
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports men's volleyball, baseball, tennis, and women's lacrosse and softball for the period running from March 30-April 5, 2026.
Men's Volleyball (Offensive): Hilbert OPP Nik D'Andrea had another strong week for the Hawks with 64 total kills, hitting .410. He also added five assists, four aces, 73 receptions at .945, with 12 digs, averaging an impressive 5.33 kills per set and 5.7 points per set. Against Houghton, D'Andrea registered 19 points, which included 19 kills (4.75 kills per set) and four digs while swinging at a .231 clip. In a win vs. Mount Aloysius, D'Andrea recorded 26 points (6.5 points per set) with 23 kills (5.75 kills per set), a .528 hitting percentage, five digs, and three service aces. In the Hawks' final game of the week, D'Andrea racked up 23 more points (5.8 points per set) on 22 kills (5.50 kills per set), .476 hitting percentage, three digs, and a service ace.
Men's Volleyball (Defensive): PS-Altoona OH Jack McKenna provided more steady defense for the Lions, who went 3-1 during their final regular-season stretch of AMCC road matches last week. In matches against Mount Aloysius, Carlow, Buffalo State, and Hilbert, the sophomore combined to record 40 digs (2.86 digs per set) while chipping in one block assist. He also posted a .947 reception percentage on the week.
Softball (Player): La Roche P/OF Maura Wade had a dominant week at the plate this past week, as she helped lift the Redhawks to a 3-1 mark in AMCC play. In the opener against Mt. Aloysius, Wade went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and a pair of RBI. She followed in game two with a 3-for-4 showing, hitting two more doubles, scored two runs and drove in one. In Friday's doubleheader against Hilbert, Wade was nearly impossible to get out. In game one, she went 5-for-6 with a double, two runs scored, three RBI and a stolen base, followed by yet another 5-for-6 outing in game two, with two more doubles, three runs scored and four more RBI. For the week, Wade finished with a .750 batting average (15-for-20), a 1.050 slugging percentage, six doubles, eight runs scored and drove 10 RBI.
Softball (Pitcher): PS-Behrend SR Abby Tingley registered a win and a save in a pair of wins over Mt. Aloysius on Friday. She recorded her 250th career strikeout in game one, fanning a total of nine batters and allowing two hits for the shutout win. Tingley came in relief in game two, striking out all three batters she faced in the seventh inning to preserve the 6-4 win. Tingley recorded 12 strikeouts on the week (10.50 k/7 average) while registering a 0.00 ERA.
Baseball (Player): PS-Behrend INF Dylan Barnes hit .611 for the week, going 11-for-16 with 13 RBI, four home runs and a double for the Lions, leading his team to a 3-1 record on the week. He registered multiple hits in all four games. The highlight of his week came on Saturday at Hilbert when Barnes went 5-for-5 with three home runs, including a grand slam, for 10 RBI and three runs scored. He posted a 1.333 slugging percentage and .650 on-base percentage across four games.
Baseball (Pitcher): Hilbert JR Jude Lowry tossed a nine-inning complete game to lift the Hawks to a 4-2 win over Penn State Behrend on Friday afternoon. Lowry struck out 11 Lions without allowing any walks, extra base hits, or hit-by-pitches on the day to improve to 2-0 over three conference starts this spring.
Women's Lacrosse (Offensive): Pitt-Bradford M Addison Molampy scored five goals on 10 shots, with five ground balls in a 1-1 week for the Panthers. In the comeback 7-4 victory over LaRoche, she registered a hat-trick on six shots, including the game-winning goal.
Women's Lacrosse (Defensive): Pitt-Bradford D Makartnee Mortimer led the Panthers to a 1-1 record last week, including a win in the program's first AMCC contest, a 7-4 comeback victory against La Roche. She tallied 14 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers for the week. At La Roche, she registered eight ground balls and eight turnovers, while also picking up an assist.
Men's Tennis: PS-Altoona SO Gabriel Lopez won both of his matches and helped secure a pair of points for the Lions in last Monday's non-conference road win at Waynesburg. Lopez prevailed 6-4, 6-3 in his No. 3 singles match while being part of a 6-0 victory in No. 1 doubles.
