Penn State Behrend will take on Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA on Wednesday for the AMCC Baseball Games of the Week. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Behrend Lions grabbed their first pair of conference wins in the AMCC opener against Pitt-Bradford on Monday, limiting the Panthers to just three runs over the two victories (4-2, 2-1). Isaac Stouffer is 10-for-17 at the plate over the last four games, including a streak of seven-consecutive at-bats with a hit and reaching base on eight-straight plate appearances. Jeff Zick leads the AMCC in ERA with a mark of 2.30. Zick has logged the league-best ERA in four appearances including three starts, working 15.2 innings with an average of 10.34 strikeouts per nine innings. As a team, the Lions are third in the conference in batting average (.287), while Behrend's pitching staff has contributed to an AMCC-best ERA of 3.98.
The Mounties split their conference opener with Hilbert, taking game one 3-1 while dropping the nightcap 9-2. AMCC second team all-conference selections from 2021, Douglas Cannon and Jeremy Iellimo return to the team in 2022. Mt. Aloysius is second in the conference in homeruns with 13 in 18 games. The Mounties also hold the second-best ERA in the AMCC (5.71), trailing only Behrend. Mt. Aloysius has four players hitting above .300 with Tyler Quade leading the team with 18 hits.
The Lions lead the all-time series against the Mounties 32-7-2, dating back to 2003, with Behrend winning the last 10 contests. The last Mt. Aloysius victory came during the 2015 season where the Mounties would sweep the regular-season series prior to dropping a postseason bout to the Lions.
