AMCC ANNOUNCES BASEBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Alfred State College senior 1B Nick Serce has been named the 2023 AMCC Player of the Year. Serce hit .408 this season with a slugging percentage of .904 and finished the regular season third in the nation for homeruns with 17.
Alfred State College senior 1B Nick Serce has been named the 2023 AMCC Player of the Year. Serce hit .408 this season with a slugging percentage of .904 and finished the regular season third in the nation for homeruns with 17. He broke the conference and Alfred State record for single-season homeruns, and is also the all-time leader at Alfred State in homeruns. Serce tallied 11 doubles and 43 RBI during the regular season, recording 51 hits, with over half of them being for extra bases. He fielded 1.000 at 1B in conference play this season.
Alfred State junior Christopher Mattoon is the AMCC Pitcher of the Year. In his eight games started, Mattoon went an impressive 7-1 with a perfect 5-0 record in conference play. He boasts a 2.73 season ERA with a conference ERA of 2.06. In 62.2 innings, Mattoon allowed only 60 hits and onlly walked 10 batters. He threw two complete games, both coming in AMCC play.
Newcomer of the Year honors goes to Pitt-Greensburg freshman P/OF James Domer. Domer batted .446 in conference play this season. He was the Bobcats second hitter for the entire season and drove in a team-high 53 runs, a program record for RBI in a season. Domer connected on four home runs this season, one in conference play. He recorded 27 extra base hit, with 10 of those coming in conference play.
Alfred State head coach Mike Armstrong picks up his first AMCC Coach of the Year honor. Armstrong led the Pioneers to an AMCC-best 12-2 record for the regular season title and hosting rights for the AMCC Championship Tournament.
