BEHREND EARNS TOP SPOT IN AMCC BASEBALL PRESEASON POLL
League coaches have tabbed Penn State Behrend as the team to beat in 2026, projecting the Lions to defend their back-to-back AMCC baseball championships. Pitt–Greensburg is expected to challenge in second place, while Alfred State College rounds out the preseason top three.
Pitt-Greensburg senior OF James Domer has been named the Preseason Player of the Year, while Bobcat junior RHP Conner Burkey has tabbed as the Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
Domer was an AMCC first team all-conference selection in 2025 and named the AMCC Player of the Year. Domer tied for the lead nationally in batting average (.496), while also leading team in batting average (.496), doubles (11), homeruns (8), total bases (110), slugging percentage (815), and on-base percentage (.554). He was a member of the AMCC All-Tournament Team, D3baseball.com First Team All-Region, ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Region, D3baseball.com Third Team All-America, ABCA/Rawlings All-America Fourth Team All-America, as well as being named to the All-ECAC Team.
Burkey was an AMCC first team all-conference selection in 2025 and was named the AMCC Pitcher of the Year. He tied for the lead in all of Division III in complete games (8), while also leading the team in complete games (8), innings pitched (69.1), wins (8), ERA (2.86), WHIP (1.08), and strikeouts (61). Burkey was also named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Third Team.
The AMCC tournament will take place Wednesday, May 6 through Saturday, May 9 at Point Stadium in Johnstown, PA. The winner will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.
