BEHREND BASEBALL FACES NO. 2 LYNCHBURG IN REGIONAL TOURNAMENT
The Penn State Behrend baseball team will head to Lynchburg, VA for the 2026 NCAA Division III Regional Tournament, hosted by Lynchburg. The No. 4 seed Lions will take on No. 1 Hornets in the first round on Friday, May 15 at 11 a.m.
No. 2 seed Maryville and No. 3 seed Christopher Newport will matchup in the second game on Friday.
Behrend captured its third straight and ninth overall AMCC Championship with three straight wins this past week, defeating Alfred State 12-6 in the championship game on Saturday. This marks the eighth appearance for the Lions in the NCAA Tournament.
Lynchburg (36-6-1), who is ranked 2nd in the NCAA Power Index, fell to sixth-ranked Shenandoah 14-4 in game two of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships. The Hornets are making their 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Lynchburg won the National Championship in 2023.
Maryville (27-17), currently ranked 29th in the NCAA Power Index, reached the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history and first time in back-to-back seasons. The Scots fell to Piedmont and Belhaven in the CCS Tournament, earning at at-large bid for posting their fifth-straight 20 win season and posting six wins over ranked opponents including Lynchburg.
Christopher Newport finished the season 24-15 overall and most recently fell to No. 7 Salisbury in the C2C conference tournament, 7-8. CNU's most notable wins on the season are a 17-5 win over No. 13 Cortland, a 3-1 win over No. 25 Randolph-Macon, and a 2-0 win over No. 11 Salisbury.
The 2026 Regional Tournament will feature 64 teams competing across 16 regional brackets, each consisting of four teams in a double-elimination format.
