Hilbert senior forward Jerame Owens broke the 1,000 rebound mark over the weekend and with that effort, he became the first Hilbert College men's basketball player to reach that plateau.
Hilbert senior forward Jerame Owens broke the 1,000 rebound mark over the weekend and with that effort, he became the first Hilbert College men's basketball player to reach that plateau.
On January 24, Owens was credited with 14 rebounds against Mount Aloysius College and those boards pushed his career total to 1,005 in 100 contests.
During the 2014-15 season as a junior, Owens became the 12th Hilbert College men's basketball player to break the 1,000-point scoring mark. He became just the fourth player in the Hawks' history to notch 1,500 points, also during the Mount Aloysius game when he posted 13 points in the team's 101-79 victory.
But he is the only player to collect both 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Owens, the 2015-16 AMCC Preseason Player of the Year selection, is also just three steals away from becoming the program's all-time steal leader at 189. He is chasing Dan McFarland '13 and Kareem Allen '95 who share the title with 188 steals.
Hilbert College (14-4) sits in 3rd place in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference with an 8-3 league record.
