The AMCC men's basketball Game of the Week features the top two teams in conference, as the La Roche College Redhawks and the Medaille College Mavericks are both are battling it out for the AMCC regular season title and hosting rights for the conference championship tournament. Both teams enter the game with identical 11-2 conference marks, with La Roche taking the first meeting between the teams, 89-76.
The Redhawks are the second-highest scoring team in the AMCC. They lead the conference in 3-point and free throw percentage and rank third in field goal percentage. La Roche is also strong on the boards and lead the AMCC in rebounding margin. The offense runs through sophomore point guard Zach Gould who is averaging 10.2 points and 2.9 assists per game. Junior forward Arnes Bajgora, the 2015 AMCC Newcomer of the Year and an all-conference second teamer, is averaging 12.0 points a game. Sophomore guard RayQuan Phifer is an all-around threat ranking 13th in the AMCC in points, eighth in defensive rebounds, and ninth in assists. Senior guard Evan Bonnaure and senior forward Andy Abreu both bring senior leadership, while freshman guard Trell Thomas provides a deep threat and leads the AMCC in three-point percentage.
The Mavericks, winners of their past two games, average just one point per game fewer than La Roche and are the third-highest scoring team in the conference. Medaille is led offensively by senior guard Jonathan Belton, who ranks third in the AMCC with 17.3 points per game and also leads the team with 64 steals. Junior forward Mike Hollenbeck is fourth in the conference with 7.1 rebounds and also adds 13.0 points per game. Justice Fagan rounds out the double-digit scorers for the Mavs, as he contributes 12.7 points per game.
