The AMCC Men's Basketball Game of the Week features Pitt-Greensburg at Carlow University on Wednesday evening. The last time Carlow and Pitt Greensburg met on Dec. 18, the Celtics pulled out a win with just tenths of a second remaining on the clock after Byron Gaskins was fouled on a three-point attempt and sank all three foul shots to secure Carlow’s first AMCC victory of the season.
The Pitt-Greenburg men’s basketball team comes into the AMCC Game of the Week looking to avenge a loss to the Celtics of Carlow earlier in the season. The Bobcats have taken off since missing the last-second shot against Carlow inside Chambers Hall. The team has won ten of the last 11 games, including seven of eight in the AMCC. Pitt-Greensburg had two huge wins over Penn State Altoona and Alfred State last week, including a 90-point offensive outburst against the Pioneers. This was the third time this season that the Bobcats reached the 90-point mark. Junior Matthew Marinchak will look to continue the scoring momentum he created last week, as he averaged over 17 points per game while shooting over 47 percent from behind the arc. This game is the second of a four-game stretch of AMCC road games for the Bobcats.
Carlow senior G Nehemiah Brazil – an AMCC Player of the Week selection this season – leads the team with an average 11.8 points per game (14.9 in AMCC games). He is averaging 3.1 assists per game in AMCC action. Gaskins and Riley Comforti are tied with the next best points per game at 11.4 each. Comforti leads the conference with a field goal percentage of 62.2 and leads the team with 7.1 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game in conference play. Carlow ranks third in the AMCC with an average 7.8 steals per game and ranks fourth with a free throw percentage of 72.3.
