The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's golf team wrapped up its first day of action at the NCAA Division III Championships at Keene Trace Golf Club Tuesday.
The Panthers shot 331 as a team, which puts them tied for 39th place with Stevenson out of 42 teams after the first day.
Cooper Cordova was the team's top performer, shooting a 79 overall. After a difficult finish to his first nine, he recovered and shot an even 36 on his second nine holes of the day. In total, he recorded four birdies (holes two, seven, eight and 14) along with seven pars.
Close behind was Johnny Fiore, who shot an 80 after a pair of birdies each on the front and back nine. Cary Ignaczak and Jamie Rook tied, both shooting 86. Matt Moonan rounded out the Panther competitors with a score of 93.
After the first day of action, Illinois Wesleyan leads the way after shooting a stroke under par for a score of 287.
Sam Goldenring (Williams) is the individual leader after shooting three strokes under par for a score of 69 on day one.
All 42 teams will be in action tomorrow morning for the Second Round. After the Second Round is concluded, the top 18 teams and six individuals will advance to Thursday and Friday's action to decide the National Champion.
Pitt-Bradford will tee off Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m.
