For the first time in Penn State Altoona men’s golf program history, the team appeared in the national top 25 poll, as the Lions received four votes in the Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll released on Friday morning.

For the first time in Penn State Altoona men’s golf program history, the team appeared in the national top 25 poll, as the Lions received four votes in the Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll released on Friday morning.

For the Lions, winners of eight AMCC conference titles and having made seven appearances in the NCAA Division III postseason tournament, it marks the first time that the program has been recognized on a national scale in the top 25 poll.

Penn State Altoona, led by 19th-year head coach Tom Koehle, has gotten its 2024-25 campaign off to a strong start. After placing seventh in the two-day Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic on September 6-7 to start their schedule, the Lions were the runner-up at The Gauntlet on September 15-16, including shooting a school-record 287 in the second round.

The Lions continue their schedule this Saturday, September 21, and Sunday, September 22, hosting the NCAA Region V Showcase at Makakiki Golf Course in Willoughby, Ohio.
