PENN STATE ALTOONA HOLDS LEAD AFTER DAY ONE OF MEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

The Penn State Altoona men's golf team holds down first place on the team leaderboard through the opening round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships on Monday at Toftrees Golf Resort in State College, PA. 

The Lions shot 307 on the par 72 Toftrees course, steadily inching up the leaderboard throughout Monday's round to finish the day in first place out of eight AMCC teams. Mount Aloysius College was close behind with 311 for second place, and Pitt-Bradford ended the day in third place with 314.

Pitt-Greensburg (318), Penn State Behrend (321), Hilbert College (365), La Roche University (365), and Carlow University (396) rounded out the AMCC pack.

Penn State Altoona's Jack Ankeny and Mount Aloysius's William Willis tied for first place out of 40 on the individual leaderboard after each firing a 2-over par 74.

Pitt-Bradford's Evan Steffen and Michael Peterson, along with Mount's Josh Nicholl all sit in a three-way tie for third place with a 3-over 75. Altoona's Peter Nusbaum, the defending AMCC individual medalist, sits tied for sixth with Hilbert's Gabe Prohaska after scoring 4-over par with a 76.

Penn State Altoona's Andrew Bruce holds down the eighth spot with a 5-over 77, while Pitt-Greensburg's Zachary Abdallah sits in ninth after shooting a 78. There is a three-way tie for the 10th spot, after Mount's Viktor Cussil, Carlow's Christian Rotundo, and Behrend's Johnny Palmieri all carded a 79 on day one. 

The second and final day of the AMCC Championships is tomorrow, Tuesday, October 14, with the first round getting underway at 9 a.m.

The tournament team champion will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament which will be held May 12-15, 2026 in at Mission Resort + Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.

2025 AMCC Men's Golf Champions apparel will be available in the AMCC Store for a limited time immeditately following the conclusion of the tournament on Tuesday afternoon! Championship apparel will be available for approximately three weeks following each championship tournament.
