The men's soccer game of the week features two of the remaining four unbeaten teams in the conference. Behrend has won the past eight meetings between the two schools, but La Roche (7-5, 3-0 AMCC) comes into the game looking to be spoiler against the 10-1-1 (4-0 AMCC) Lions.
The La Roche College men’s soccer team enters the game of the week fresh off of five straight wins and a game where they scored seven goals, their highest goal total since the 2013 season. The Redhawks are just one of four AMCC teams who have yet to lose in conference and one of three who have won every game. La Roche boasts the strongest offense in the AMCC averaging 3.7 goals per game and 26 shots. Strikers, freshman Elliot Dick and junior Aaron Lagnese, currently rank second in the AMCC with eight goals apiece, while sophomore forwards Pedro Ansede (5 goals) and Tyler Grebur (4 goals) provide a scoring touch off the bench. The midfield is led by freshman Ximo Vicent who ranks first in the AMCC with nine assists. Seniors Nick Work and Tyler Balzer bring leadership and versatility to the midfield with sophomore Cole Quinio also seeing time in the middle. Senior, and former AMCC Player of the Week, Dave Hidinger controls the backline. Hidinger paces a defense that has conceded just two goals in three conference games. Junior midfielder and 2014 AMCC all-conference third teamer Justin Magnotti and sophomore defender Dylan Weyand have started the past two seasons, while junior Justin Horn is starting on the left side. Sophomore goalkeeper Spencer Wolfe already has four shutouts on the season and a program-record ten in his career.
The Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team is riding a seven-game winning streak heading into Saturday’s contest against La Roche. In the seven wins, the Lions are averaging 3.42 goals per game. Behrend has also shut out seven opponents behind the goalkeeping of senior Will Cole and sophomore Colton Smith. Junior forward Anthony Crivelli continues to lead the team with eight goals and four assists for 20 points. He has scored in all but five games this season. Behrend is looking to extend its win streak against the Redhawks on Saturday. The Lions have won the last eight games. In those eight games, Behrend has held La Roche to just five goals while posting six shut outs.
