The Penn State Behrend Lions and Mount Aloysius College Mounties will gear up for their biggest game of the season this Saturday when the Lions head to Cresson for a pivotal Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup with the Mounties.
Behrend will take a 10-3-2, 6-0-1 AMCC record to Mount Aloysius. The Behrend Lions have won four straight games, and most recently topped Hilbert College 10-0 on October 17. Penn State Behrend is outscoring AMCC opponents this season 35-2. Freshman Logan Brinsky leads the team with six goals this season. Seniors Dakota Lange and Ryan Maurer have both scored five goals each in 2018.
Mount Aloysius College (13-2-1, 7-1-0 AMCC) has been atop the league standings all season. However, a loss earlier in the week on the road to Franciscan University has left the door open for the Behrend Lions to potentially claim the overall top spot in the league with a win on Saturday. Mount Aloysius has a high powered offense that has scored 57 goals this season, which is the third-best in the country. They have assisted on 46 of those goals, good enough for fourth nationally. MAC is led by junior Joshua Devlin’s 10 goals and 27 points. They have a balanced attack which has seen five players score five or more goals this year. Senior center backs Chris Godet and Pete Smerecky lead a defense that has allowed 13 goals on the year. The pairing has also chipped in offensively as Smerecky has scored four goals and Godet has added two.
