The Alfred State College Pioneers (5-3-3, 1-0 AMCC) travel to Greensburg, PA to take on the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats (4-3-3, 1-0 AMCC) in the AMCC Men's Soccer Game of the Week.
The Pioneers have been hot as-of-late, going 2-0-1 in their last three, putting up 14 goals in the process. Nuri Sarbudak is tied for second in the AMCC for goals this season, with seven. Gavin Rice has tallied four goals and two assists this season, as he and Sarbudak have been pivotal pieces in the Pioneer offense. Defensive midfielders, Josh Price and Andres Mateos have been anchoring the Pioneer midfield, with their work rate and ball-winning ability for Alfred State. Michael Bupp and Will Bowen anchor the Alfred State back line, with their tenaciousness and aggressive ball-hawk mindset, they consistently find themselves making possession-ending tackles in key situations. Goalkeeper Thaddeus Grierson is coming off an AMCC Defensive Player of the Week honor, as he looks to continue his stellar play in the Pioneer goal.
The Pitt-Greensburg men’s soccer team is celebrating senior day by playing in the AMCC Game of the Week against the Pioneers of Alfred State. Pitt-Greensburg is also coming into the game on a recent hot streak, as the Bobcats have picked up four straight wins in their past four games. The Bobcats are led by reigning AMCC Offensive Player of the Week, Caleb Yuricha. As a freshman, Yuricha leads the AMCC in goals and points, with eight and 18, respectively. Pitt-Greensburg also has one of the top keepers in the AMCC in junior Danny Rodgers. Rodgers leads the AMCC in save percentage (.855) and is third in saves (53) and goals against (9).
Alfred State won last year’s meeting 2-0 when Pitt-Greensburg made the trip to Pioneer Stadium.
