Pitt-Greensburg will travel to Erie, PA on Saturday to take on Penn State Behrend in the AMCC Men's Soccer Game of the Week. Both teams enter the game with a 1-0 record in conference play.
The Bobcat men’s soccer team is looking to make some noise in the AMCC in their matchup against PS Behrend. Pitt-Greensburg is looking to build on two-consecutive AMCC semifinals appearances with a lot of new faces in the lineup. The Bobcats have 12 freshman that have played in at least eight matches, and they rely heavily on the underclassmen. Sophomore Matt Armenio leads the team with seven goals, with four of them coming against Pitt-Bradford last Saturday.
Behrend comes into Saturday’s contest with a 3-6-1 overall record and 1-0 record in conference play, earning a 3-0 victory at La Roche in the AMCC opener last Saturday. Seniors Andrew Cassano and Blake Cooper found the back of the net against the Redhawks, while sophomore Owen Petersen secured the Lions win with a goal in the 75th minute. Cooper leads the team with four scores, followed by Petersen’s three and Cassano’s two goals. Junior midfielder Jac Caputo has tallied a team-high three assists. In net, Evan Dougal has recorded 13 saves and one shutout in five starts, while Anthony Scalise leads Behrend with 21 saves in four starts.
