AMCC ANNOUNCES MEN'S SOCCER ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Alfred State College senior midfielder Henry Leahy has been named the AMCC Men's Soccer Player of the Year. Leahy tallied 12 goals and seven assists this season, leading the conference in goals and total points and tied for most assists.
Penn State Behrend sophomore goalkeeper Anthony Scalise and Mount Aloysius College junior defender Martin Donner have been named Co-Defensive Players of the Year.
Scalise put together a 6-1 record in conference play. He only allowed five goals in seven conference games for a 0.74 goals-against average. Scalise made 11 saves and posted 1.5 shutouts. Overall, he led the conference with a 11-3-2 record with three shutouts. He finished the season second in goals-against average (0.92) and first in save percentage (.778) in 16 contests, while tying for second in total saves (49).
Donner registered two goals and three assists in conference play while leading the Mounties on defense to an apperance in the AMCC championship game.
La Roche University freshman midfielder Abdul Basit Suleman has been tabbed as the AMCC Newcomer of the Year. Suleman made an immediate impact for La Roche in his freshman campaign with the Redhawks. He ended the season with four goals, scoring three of those four goals in conference play, including one game-winning goal in a victory over Pitt-Bradford. Suleman's .533 shot on goal percentage was the 12th best in the AMCC for players who had double-digit shots in conference play and his .200 shot percentage was tied for eighth in the AMCC for those with double digit shots in conference action.
Coach of the Year honors goes to Penn State Behrend head coach Chris Ralph. Ralph picks up the honor in just his second year at the helm, leading the Lions to a 7-1 conference record, securing the AMCC regular season title and the top seed in the men's soccer championship tournament.
