Josh Hammer, D'Youville College, Men's Soccer - Defensive

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: D'Youville D Josh Hammer led the Spartans to a two-game unbeaten streak this week, as he is the team's leader of the back line. On Tuesday against St. John Fisher, Hammer saved the team in the last minute of the game with a header off a corner to tie the game at 1-1 and give the team a tie after double-OT. To add to his goal, Hammer played incredible on defense. On Saturday against Penn State-Altoona, Hammer was a big part of a team defense that allowed just eight shots on goal and shutout the Lions for their first conference win of the season. 

BEST OF THE REST: Medaille GK Jonny Pitts recorded his first two clean sheets as a Maverick this week, shutting out Thiel and Franciscan en route to going 2-0 with eight total saves...PS-Behrend D Ryan Maurer scored a pair of goals in Penn State Behrend's opener at La Roche on Saturday, he has helped anchor a defense that has allowed just five goals this season and the Behrend Lions own a 5-2-1 overall record...Mount Aloysius D Christopher Godet led the Mountie backline to their seventh shutout of the season in a 6-0 victory over Pitt Bradford, as he also scored a goal on a header following a corner kick...Hilbert GK Tucker Reynolds  was credited with 24 saves in goal against Pitt-Greensburg, as he had is feet and hands moving all day as the Hawks played a man-down for the full 90 minutes, facing a season-high 47 shots in Hilbert's 6-0 defeat...La Roche GK Austin Gorman made 22 saves over three games last week.
