ALFRED STATE MEN CLAIM ALLEGHENY EMPIRE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

The Alfred State College men's swimming team claimed the AMCC and the overall title at the Allegheny Empire Swimming and Diving Championship Meet, snapping Penn State Behrend's 14 year streak. 

The Pioneers got wins on the final day from Westin Perry in the 100 free (46.47), along with the 400 free relay team of Perry, Kellen Fletcher, Luca Aldewereld, and Jazz Widney, as they finished at 3:05.12.

Penn State Behrend's Tim Compton was named the Allegheny Empire Championship Men's Swimmer of the Meet. Compton won his third individual title in the 200 butterfly tonight (1:53.39), giving him three individual gold medals. Alfred State's Austin Miller was the AMCC Diver of the Meet, while Pioneer head coach Mike Smiechowski was named the Allegheny Empire Coach of the Meet.

Penn State Altoona's Isaac Swanson came in first place overall in the 1650 free (16:37.45) while Luke Pletz finished first among AMCC teams in the 200 back (1:58.71).

Rounding out the men's champions from Saturday, is Behrend's Jake Eshelman who finished first in the AMCC in the 200 breast with a time of 2:10.26.
