The AMCC is proud to announce the recipients of the 2015 Spring Sportsmanship Awards.
Franciscan junior Zach Quiza has been named the 2015 AMCC Men's Tennis Player of the Year.
Franciscan freshman Jarek Sulak has been tabbed as the ECAC South Division III Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 19.
Sulak and #2 doubles partner, freshman John Gallagher, went 3-0 on the week, including 2-0 in the AMCC tournament. Sulak's doubles and singles wins on Sunday led the Barons to their third AMCC title.
After sweeping their AMCC opponents during the regular season, Franciscan University claimed their third consecutive AMCC men's tennis title Sunday afternoon.
Penn State Altoona men's tennis freshman Geoff Zlobinsky was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region Rookie of the Week.
Franciscan University (4-5, 3-0 AMCC) heads into the championship weekend hoping to claim their third consecutive, and fourth overall, AMCC men's tennis championship.
Zlobinsky had a dominant week for the Lions, helping them go undefeated on the way to to winning eight consecutive matches. Playing in the No. 1 slots in both singles and doubles, he went 3-0 in the AMCC in both while going 4-0 overall.
Huang picked up wins in the #1 singles (6-3, 7-6) and #1 doubles (8-3) positions against Thiel College.
Hack went undefeated in both singles and doubles last week, including helping his team to an 8-1 win over AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend. He went 3-0 overall in singles and 3-0 overall in doubles.

Quiza lead the Barons to a 2-0 record in conference play this week, and 3-0 overall. Quiza won all three of his #1 singles matches and all three #1 doubles matches with doubles partner and brother, freshman Joe Quiza.
Huang played well for the Spartans, earning the team's lone point in his 6-4, 6-0 victory as the top singles player for D'Youville. Huang was also half of the team's top doubles pairing with John Nazzarett (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga), who fell to Houghton's top doubles pair by the score of 8-4.
Quiza picked up wins in #1 singles and #1 doubles action against AMCC foe Pitt-Bradford, before dropping two to Otterbein.
On Saturday, September 27, from 10AM to 12PM, six members of the Men's Tennis Team volunteered at the Ebensburg Potato Fest, serving food and drinks to the public in attendance.
