PENN STATE BEHREND WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT AMCC MEN'S TENNIS TITLE
The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team won the 2026 AMCC Championship match with a 4-1 decision over Penn State Altoona on Sunday at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA.
With the victory, the Lions won their fifth straight championship and 11th overall title, as Behrend and Altoona met for the fourth straight AMCC championship. The Lions now advance to the Atlantic East Championships on May 3.
Vitaliy Pikalo and Carson Souser were double winners in the championship match, claiming both their doubles matches and singles. Souser teamed with Paul Flick for a 6-4 decision at No. 2 doubles, followed by Pikalo and Luke Vunora at No. 3 doubles by a score of 7-6 (7-3). Souser tallied a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jackson Newell at No. 4 singles, while Vunora helped Behrend take a 3-0 lead with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles. Pikalo sealed the win with a 7-5, 7-5 decision in the third spot.
Penn State Altoona's Nick Beard registered a 3-6, 7-5, 10-6 victory at No. 1 singles.
Behrend advances to the Atlantic East championship on May 3 at the Hershey Racquet Club. The winner of that match will earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.
