PENN ST. ALTOONA'S STITT NAMED ECAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
One day after being picked as the North Eastern Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week in men's volleyball, Penn State Altoona senior libero Brandon Stitt was recognized regionally when he was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region Player of the Week.
One day after being picked as the North Eastern Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week in men's volleyball, Penn State Altoona senior libero Brandon Stitt was recognized regionally when he was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region Player of the Week.
Stitt's strong play helped the Lions go 3-0 last week.
The senior opened the week with a season-high 15 digs while adding three set assists and a kill to help Penn State Altoona complete a thrilling come-from-behind 3-2 victory over AMCC rival Penn State Behrend on Friday.
The Lions entered NEAC play against Wilson College and Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, and Stitt combined to record 13 digs while also contributing six more assists to help his team to a pair of 3-0 wins.
Stitt, the reigning NEAC Defensive Player of the Year, finished the week with 28 digs (2.54 digs per set) and is now third in the conference and 11th among all NCAA Division III men's volleyball players in digs per set at 2.74.
Penn State Altoona men's volleyball is 5-1 overall, including 2-0 in the NEAC. The Lions are also 2-0 in their secondary conference, the AMCC.
The team returns to action tonight, Wednesday, February 17 to compete in a tri-match at Lancaster Bible. The Lions face #8 Stevenson University, a non-conference opponent, at 5:00 PM before taking on the host Chargers in a NEAC match at 7:00 PM.
