SMITH NAMED ECAC SOUTH ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Penn State Altoona freshman setter Billy Smith has been selected the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region Rookie of the Week in men's volleyball.

The award, which is Smith's first weekly honor of his collegiate career, recognizes the top performance of the week by a first-year men's volleyball player in the region.

The freshman setter led the Lions' offense in a pair of 3-0 wins over North Eastern Athletic Conference opposition during a tri-match on Saturday afternoon.

Smith had 22 set assists against Lancaster Bible College, then followed that up with 24 assists against Wilson College. On the week, he averaged 7.67 assists per set, 1.33 digs per set, 0.83 kills per set, 0.50 aces per set, and 0.33 blocks per set.
