HUEY GETS THIRD ECAC SOUTH REGION WEEKLY AWARD
For the third time this season, Penn State Altoona men's volleyball sophomore outside hitter Matt Huey was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region Player of the Week.
For the third time this season, Penn State Altoona men's volleyball sophomore outside hitter Matt Huey was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region Player of the Week.
Earlier this week, Huey became the first player in Penn State Altoona history to earn a national player of the week recognition when the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced that he was their Division III National Player of the Week. The sophomore was also picked as Player of the Week for both the North Eastern Athletic Conference and Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
Huey continued his impressive play for the Lions this past weekend, helping his team go 3-0 in NEAC action on Friday and Saturday.
In a 3-1 win over Keuka College on Friday afternoon, he racked up 23 kills, nine digs, and six total blocks. In a 3-0 win versus SUNY Polytechnic on Saturday morning, he had 15 kills, five digs and one block. Later that day, he posted 14 kills, nine digs and four total blocks in a 3-1 victory over Wells College.
For the week, Huey had 52 kills (4.73 kills per set), 23 digs (2.09 digs per set), and 11 total blocks (1.00 block per set).
