BUFFINGTON RUNS AWAY WITH TOP CROSS COUNTRY HONOR
Penn State Behrend junior Dylan Buffington has been named the 2016 AMCC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year.
Penn State Behrend junior Dylan Buffington has been named the 2016 AMCC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year. Buffington was the top individual finisher at the AMCC championship and led the Lions to a team conference title. He led the Lions to team victories in all but one race this season. The junior also finished first overall in all but one race. At the Inter-Regional Boarder Clash, Buffington finished 30th overall in a field of 383 which included dozens of nationally-ranked runners. His 24:22.30 time was the fastest in Behrend history. Buffington finished the season with three of the top four times in the conference this season.
Franciscan University freshman Patrick Tansill is the 2016 Newcomer of the Year. Tansill was the fastest newcomer at the AMCC Championship meet, crossing the finish line in 29:18.46. The rookie was also the top runner for the Barons all season, his time at the Oberlin Invitational was tied for 12th fastest 8K time in the conference heading into the champioship meet.
For the seventh time in the past 10 years, Behrend head coach Greg Cooper has been tabbed as the Coach of the Year. Cooper led the Lions to their sixth straight conference title and ninth in 10 years.
