MAVS RUN IN DANIEL WALKER INVITATIONAL HOSTED BY BUFFALO STATE
The Medaille College men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Grand Island, NY Friday afternoon to take part in the Daniel Walker Invitational hosted by Buffalo State College at Beaver Island State Park.
The Medaille College men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Grand Island, NY Friday afternoon to take part in the Daniel Walker Invitational hosted by Buffalo State College at Beaver Island State Park.
The men's team finished in second place out of three teams with a team score of (53). Buffalo State won the event with a team score of (17), with Villa Maria coming in third place with a team score of (68).
The Bengals had the top three times with Pil Giuga edging out teammate Mitch Rabold by two second for the win with a time of (17:16).
Medaille rookie Zachary Davis came in with the best time for Medaille in fourth place finishing with a time of 18:32. This was the freshman's first race for the blue and gold. Fellow freshman Antonio Xavier Cisternino came in ninth place with a time of (20:37).
Sophomore Devon Camel came in 13th with a time of 23:00, sophomore Colin Gemerek finished 14th (23:00), freshman Brandon Roach finished 16th (23:04) and junior Mark Lancaster finished 19th, (26:51) for the the men's team.
On the women's side, the Mavs finished in third place out of four teams. Cayahoga Community College won the event with a team score of (25), Buffalo State came in second with a team score of (36), Medaille had (78) team points and Villa Maria came in fourth with (95).
Caroline Lapish won the event with a time of 20:01 for Cayahoga. Junior Jessica Maguder was the top finisher for Medaille with a 12th place finish in (23:57). Freshman Leah Van Son finished in 18th (24:56) and junior Lindsey Ellis came in behind her in 19th place (26:02).
Freshman Brandi Jezerski came in 21st (26:58), Alyssa Murzynowski finished in 23rd (27:54) and junior Sumrima Rahman finished 27th (35:31).
The Mavs cross country team returns to action in two weeks when they will take part in the Behrend Invitational. The women's race will start at 11:00 am and the men will start at 11:45 am.
