CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS COMPETE AT NCAA REGIONALS
AMCC men's and women's cross country runners competed at the NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon.
The Penn State Behrend men's team placed 13th, while Alfred State College placed 21st out of 25 teams.
AMCC Runner of the Year Christian Wescott was the first conference runner to cross the finish line as he came in 47th place out of 187 runners with a time of 26:39.9. AMCC Newcomer of the Year Ethan Vaughan scored a top finish for the Behrend Lions, as he ran 26:40.9 for 49th place. The next Behrend runner to cross the finish line was Peyton Brewer, tallying a season-best time of 26:48.4 to take 54th place.
Max Knight was the next Pioneer to finish as he came in 66th place with a time of 27:01.7. Aidan Reinsel was third on the Behrend team and 71st overall with a time of 27:08.0, while Kody Klein tallied a time of 27:18.1 for 76th. Hilbert College's Thomas Roty crossed the finish line in 27:21.5, breaking both his own record and the program mark he set earlier this October. Penn State Berend's Alex Haskins was the last runner to score for the Lions, plcing 99th overall with a time of 27:46.1. Rounding things out for Alfred State was Andrew Coriaty in 127th place with a time of 28:45.4. Carson Hulka would follow suit in 154th place with a time of 30:18.1 and Liam Hudson crossed the line right behind him in 155th place with a time of 30:20.5. Hilbert's Alexander Scheer completed the course in 31:29.9, recording his second-fastest time of the season.
SUNY Geneseo was victorious with a team score of 29 and New York University was second (47) followed by Rochester in third
On the women's side, Penn State Behrend placed 16th out of 28 teams with a team score of 470 at NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday. Bethany Litwiler and Lindsey Hartle broke the 25-minute mark for the Lions. Litwiler was first on the team and 82nd overall with a time of 24:35.1 and Hartle was 10 spots behind in 92nd overall, running 24:58.0. Behrend freshman, and AMCC Newcomer of the Year, Kelsey Hanna tallied a time of 25:12.8 for 98th place. Alivia Hetrick was the next to cross the line with a time of 25:39.0 for 101st and Samantha Abate was close behind in 102nd, crossing in 25:42.5 and earning the final points for Behrend.
Penn State Altoona finished in 25th place, as Victoria Scutti had the fastest time for the Lions, recording a time of 24:26.86 to finish in 75th place. Kayla Crowe finished in 172nd place with a time of 28:20.79. Sharon Lin, Jordan Franks, and Samantha Robinson finished within seconds of each other, clocking times of 30:06.55, 30:08.49, and 30:19.44 respectively. Lin finished in 187th place, Franks in 188th place, and Robinson in 192nd place.
The Alfred State women's cross-country had no placement in the teams score but had two Pioneers run the course at the NCAA Regionals. Ashlen Rossi crossed the finish line first out of the two in 129th place with a time of 27:17.1. Caitlyn Strecker was not far behind as she finished in 137th place with a time of 28:00.8.
New York University won the team title with 52 points and Geneseo followed in second with 64 and then Ithaca in third (166)
