PENN ST ALTOONA WINS AMCC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP, WILL FACE ITHACA IN NCAA TOURNAMENT

Penn St. Altoona defeated Mount Aloysius College for the AMCC softball crown and will advance to the NCAA Division III tournament with the league's automatic bid in hand.

The Lions will travel to Ithaca College where they will meet the host Bombers on Friday.  Other teams in the bracket include SUNY-Oneonta and Rowan University.

The #3 seeded Mounties advanced to the championship game by defeating #4 Pitt-Bradford, 9-3, to start the day in a rain-delayed contest from Saturday.  The two teams exchanged leads before the Mounties jumped to a 5-4 lead in the 5th inning.  But the Lions roared back with a six run sixth.  Junior Raychel DeArmitt closed the door with three outs in the seventh for the complete game win.
