PENN ST. ALTOONA'S BURGE SELECTED AS ECAC SOUTH REGION PITCHER OF THE WEEK
The Eastern College Athletic Conference on Wednesday announced that Penn State Altoona junior Kate Burge was its Division III South Region Pitcher of the Week.
The Eastern College Athletic Conference on Wednesday announced that Penn State Altoona junior Kate Burge was its Division III South Region Pitcher of the Week.
This is the second career ECAC regional player of the week award garnered by Burge in her three years with Penn State Altoona, and it is her first regional award of the season.
Burge surrendered just one hit in a pair of wins wins at AMCC opponent Franciscan University last Tuesday, April 5, including notching a perfect game.
In game one, the junior right-hander went three innings and gave up one hit while striking out three for the victory. In game two, Burge tossed her second career perfect game, going all five innings and striking out eight batters along the way.
On the week, Burge pitched eight innings and allowed just one hit and no runs. She struck out 11 batters. She currently leads the AMCC with 12 wins and a a 1.47 earned run average.
