PENN ST. ALTOONA'S CLARISSA KELLER NAMED ECAC SOUTH REGION PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Penn State Altoona softball senior catcher Clarissa Keller was announced as the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region Player of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.
Penn State Altoona softball senior catcher Clarissa Keller was announced as the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Division III South Region Player of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.
Keller, who earned her first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week recognition on Monday, now picks up her first career ECAC regional weekly award. The senior continued to swing a hot bat for the Lady Lions last week, helping her team go 4-0 in AMCC play as she extended her hitting streak to 13 games.
In a doubleheader sweep at La Roche College last Wednesday afternoon, Keller combined to hit 4-for-8 in two games with four runs scored, three stolen bases, and one double. In her team's doubleheader sweep at Hilbert College on Saturday afternoon, the senior went 7-for-9 at the plate with six runs scored, four runs batted in, two stolen bases, two doubles, and one triple.
On the week, Keller hit .647 (11-for-17) with 10 runs scored, five steals, four RBI, three doubles, and one triple. This season, she is leading the AMCC in batting average (.543), on-base percentage (.570), slugging percentage (.741), hits (44), runs scored (30), and stolen bases (15).
In addition to weekly awards from the ECAC and AMCC, Keller also earned an honorable mention recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday, as she earned a nod as one of last week's Division III Top Performers.
Lady Lions softball is back in action at home on Saturday, April 23 for an AMCC doubleheader against Medaille College beginning at 1:00 PM
