The AMCC softball Game of the Week features the Pitt-Bradford Panthers as they travel to Altoona, PA to take on the Lions of Penn State Altoona.
Pitt-Bradford enters the conference-opening week with an overall record of 4-12, following a tough non-conference slate. Senior infielder Amber Fox, who recently picked up her 100th career hit, is leading the Pitt-Bradford offense, hitting .421 while boasting a team high .459 on-base-percentage and .509 slugging percentage through the team’s first 16 games. Freshman pitcher/outfielder Liz Dzurisin is close behind, hitting .409 with 11 RBI while fellow freshman infielder Maddy Hillery is hitting .326 with two doubles and 11 RBI. Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Cassidy Lewis leads the Panthers in the circle with a record of 2-3 and a 3.50 ERA in seven appearances. She has a team-high 13 strikeouts in 34 innings.
Penn State Altoona softball enters its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference schedule this
week after getting off to a 9-5 start in non-conference play throughout March. After starting
AMCC play on Wednesday with a home doubleheader against Pitt-Greensburg, the Lady Lions
will host Pitt-Bradford on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 PM at Stewart Athletic Field for another
important conference matchup. Penn State Altoona has been led by strong pitching from junior
Kate Burge, who leads the AMCC in earned run average (1.63) and is tied for first in wins (6).
At the plate, senior catcher Clarissa Keller is off to another excellent start for her team, as she
ranks second in the league in on-base percentage (.487) and sixth in batting average (.412). Penn
State Altoona has also been aggressive on the basepaths as a team, ranking first in the AMCC in
steals by going 25-for-29 in stolen base attempts.
