For the first time in her career, Franciscan University sophomore Allyson Weiss has earned a national award as she was named the National Fastpitch News DIII Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday afternoon.
Weiss was named the AMCC Player of the Week on Monday and now adds the FPN honors to her already impressive resume. For the week, Weiss hit .625 (10-for-16) including five extra base hits. Three of those extra base hits were home runs as she drove in eight runs and scored nine. In the field, Weiss was perfect with nine putouts and six assists.
