DAY ONE CONCLUDES AT AMCC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
Day 1 of the 2023 AMCC Softball Championship Tournament is in the books, as #1 Penn State Behrend and #2 Mount Aloysius College remain the only unbeaten teams in the tournament.

Game 1
#3 Penn State Altoona softball split its first two games tournament, as the league's postseason opened on Thursday at Penn State Behrend. The Lions started out with a dominant win, shutting out #6 Pitt-Greensburg 8-0 in five innings. Freshman Madison Peters pitched a complete game shutout for Penn State Altoona to record her 14th win of the season in the circle. In five innings of work, the right-hander scattered four hits while issuing no walks, and she struck out five batters. Cameryn Feathers was a perfect 3-for-3 with the bat for the Lions, while recording two runs scored, two stolen bases, and one run batted in. Madalyn Maynard went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored, and Alyssa Fisher was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored
Game 2
#4 La Roche University softball recorded their first win of the AMCC Championship tournament 4-2 over #5 Pitt-Bradford. Redhawk junior Alexis Myers had a big game in the circle, as she walked zero Panther batters. She struck out one and surrendered two runs over seven hits. Myers remained in the circle for all seven innings and recorded a hit of her own. The Redhawks took an early lead in the first inning, scoring two runs, while continuing to build upon their lead in the third and seventh innings, scoring one run each inning. Myers, Kennedi Winslow, Katie Gaughan, and Emma Bizay each recorded a hit for the team. Bizay, Gaughan, and Winslow each recorded an RBI.
Game 3
The second seeded Mount Aloysius softball team opened up the 2023 AMCC tournament with a bye in the double-elimination tournament, then beat #3 Penn State Altoona 5-3 to advance in the winner's bracket. Sophomore Grace Gardini went 2-for-4, with a double, while also driving in two of the Mounties' four runs. Freshman Sierra Walters had another strong performance in the circle, tossing a complete game and allowing three runs, while also striking out five batters.
Game 4
The #1 Penn State Behrend softball team opened the 2023 AMCC Championship Tournament with a 10-2 five-inning victory against #4 La Roche on Thursday afternoon. The Behrend Lions had two four-run innings, beginning in the third to get on the board first. Neither team recorded a hit until the third inning, but the Lions then used three hits and took advantage of two errors to take a 4-0 lead. Lexi Edgett singled up the middle, before Kaitlyn Ezzone reached on an error to get to second. Maddie Smith smacked her first triple of the season into right center to send home Edgett and Ezzone. Smith scored on the second out and Meghan Petitte ripped a double and stole home on Emi Curcio's at-bat. La Roche answered at the top of the fourth with a pair of runs off Alexis Myers' single to center field. ehrend scored the next six runs, two in the fourth and four in the fifth to end the game early. Petitte went 2-for-3 and Jocelyn McNany added three RBIs. Kayla Lindberg improves to 11-5 on the season, pitching five innings and only allowing three hits on 19 batters faced
