AMCC SOFTBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM ANNOUNCED
Penn State Behrend sophomore outfielder Meghan Petitte has been named the AMCC Player of the Year.
Penn State Behrend sophomore outfielder Meghan Petitte has been named the AMCC Player of the Year. Petitte finished the regular season first in the AMCC in RBI (23), triples (4), home runs (4) and slugging percentage (.855). She was third in hits (24) and sixth in batting average (.436). Petitte led the AMCC in overall stats with 52 hits, 37 RBI and a .726 slugging percentage. She was also second in doubles (11) and third in runs (33). She had 17 multiple-hit games and 11 multiple-RBI games.
Pitcher of the Year honors goes to Penn State Behrend sophomore pitcher Abby Tingley. Tingley led the AMCC with a 0.87 ERA and nine conference wins. She went undefeated in AMCC action, pitching 56.1 innings and striking out 50 (6.21 per game). Tingley allowed seven earned runs in nine games. She pitched three shutouts in AMCC action and five overall. She finished first in the conference in overall wins (16) and is first in ERA (1.13), while ranking third in strikeouts (85).
Pitt-Bradford freshman Sara Stroup has been tabbed as the AMCC Newcomer of the Year. Stroup hit .333 with 17 runs scored, 12 RBI, four stolen bases, and eight extra-base hits (T4th) in her debut AMCC campaign. For the entire season, she hit .458 with a .559 on-base percentage, which is 16th best in the NCAA and first in the AMCC. Stroup reached base in all 29 games she played.
Penn State Behrend head coach Ashley Gruber has been named the AMCC Coach of the Year for the third time in her career. Gruber led the Lions to a perfect 18-0 record in conference play to go along with the AMCC regular season title and overall conference title.
