BEHREND SOFTBALL FALLS 1-0 TO NO. 24 DOMINICAN IN NCAA REGIONALS
Kayla Faber-Cournane threw a three-hit shutout to lead No. 24 Dominican University (39-7) past Penn State Behrend (33-10) 1-0 in the elimination game of the 2024 NCAA Division III Softball Regional hosted by Case Western on Friday.

Dominican plated a run on two hits in the opening frame. Kennedy Marvin singled and scored off an RBI single by Ryley Davis for the only run of the game. The Stars defense went three up and three down in the first three innings. The Lions got their first hit in the fourth inning with a single up the middle from Meghan Petitte. Behrend added two more hits in the fifth inning from Kayla Salvini and Emi Curcio.
Dominican had runners on first and second in the seventh with two outs but Kayla Lindberg sent the game into the bottom of the frame with her lone strikeout of the contest. The Lions, down to their final at bat and trying to continue their season, but the Stars managed to record the three outs to secure the win. Faber-Cournane picked up the shut-out win, fanning two and allowing just three hits.
Abby Tingley started her second game in a row, allowing five hits and one run in the first four innings, as Kayla Lindberg finished out the game in the circle for the Lions. It marked the second straight game Behrend faced a nationally-ranked opponent, as the Lions season concludes with a 33-10 overall record.
