AMCC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT SET FOR THIS WEEKEND

The AMCC softball championship tournament kicks off on Friday, May 9 at Pitt-Bradford. No. 3 Pitt-Greensburg will take on No.6 Hilbert College in the first game of the tournament, while No. 4 Penn State Behrend and No. 5 Pitt-Bradford will follow in game two of the day. No. 2 Mount Aloysius College and No. 1 Penn State Altoona will then take on the winners of each game Friday afternoon.
Top seed Penn state Altoona enters the tournament looking for the program's fourth conference title. Gianna Hoppel leads the Lions, and ranks fifth in the AMCC with a .402 batting average. She has recorded 28 RBI, including 11 doubles and two homeruns. Alyssa Fisher has a team-leading 43 hits and 36 runs scored with 10 doubles and 10 stolen bases. Jocelyn Nau leads the AMCC with 12 wins in the circle and ranks second with a 2.49 ERA.
Mount Aloysius enters the tournament as the second seed. The Mounties are led by Sarah Henninger, who ranks second in the conference, with a .491 batting average and leads her team with 54 hits, 36 runs scored, and seven stolen bases. Maya Cappazoli carries a .384 batting average, recording 14 runs and 13 RBI on the season, to go along with three doubles and two triples. In the circle, Jessica Koptcho leads the AMCC with a 1.27 ERA and 125 strikeouts, while ranking second in the league with 11 wins.
Entering the tournament as the #3 seed is Pitt-Greensburg. Leading the Bobcats on offense is Hunter Taylor with a .370 batting average, including 24 RBI, 16 runs scored, nine doubles and two homeruns. Shelby Cloak leads the team with 22 runs scored and is tied with Taylor with a team-leading 24 RBI to go along with 12 doubles, 1 triple, and two homeruns. In the circle for the Bobcats, Melanie Mienke and Autumn Powell split the job, with both recording seven wins on the year. Mienke ranks second in the conference with 84 strikeouts and is fourth in the conference with a 3.12 ERA.
Fourth-seed Penn State Behrend enters the tournament as the defending champions. The Lions are led by Jocelyn McNany, who tops the AMCC with a .505 batting average. She has recorded 56 hits, 19 doubles, four triples and six homeruns to go along with 34 RBI and 36 runs scored. Chloe Nale carries a .371 batting average with 22 RBI and 16 runs scored and eight stolen bases. Abby Tingley has recorded seven wins in the circle for the Lions, compiling 55 strikeouts and a 3.63 ERA.
Pitt-Bradford come into the tournament as the #5 seed. The Panthers are led offensively by Krislyn Clement, who ranks third in the AMCC with a .441 batting average. Clement has hit five homeruns, 13 doubles, and three triples on her way to recording 30 RBI and 16 runs scored. Sara Stroup is right behind her with a .383 batting average, which includes six homeruns, 27 RBI and 26 runs scored. Clement also leads her team in the circle, with five wins, 37 strikeouts and a 5.95 ERA.
Rounding out the field is #6 Hilbert. The Hawks are led on offense by Emily Lacki with a .360 batting average, recording 31 hits, 24 runs and 14 RBI, while Samantha Heppel carries a .326 batting average, recording 20 RBI and and 21 runs scored. Alana Yadov and Kailey Stolowski have split time in the circle, each picking up five and four wins, respectively. Yadov has recorded 75 strikeouts and a 4.69 ERA, while Stolowski has 68 strikeouts and a 3.86 ERA.
