NO. 3 TEXAS LUTHERAN DEFEATS BEHREND SOFTBALL IN NCAA REGIONALS
The No. 3 Texas Lutheran University (39-4) softball team scored 10 runs on eight hits to defeat Penn State Behrend (28-12) 10-0 in five innings in the first game of the 2026 NCAA Division III Regional Tournament on Thursday afternoon.
Texas Lutheran's Jordyn Joy allowed two hits for the shut-out victory, recording five strikeouts to improve to 12-1 for the Bulldogs.
Behrend's Alexia Brown led off the first inning with hit on the first pitch from Joy. The Lions tallied another hit in the third inning thanks to Julia Jones. Texas Lutheran got on the board with two runs in the first with a bunt single by Caelee Clark. She stole second and scored on a single to left field for a 1-0 lead. Taylor Vannett made it 2-0 after getting walked and coming home on a sacrifice fly. The Bulldogs added another run in the third before scoring seven runs with no outs in the bottom of the fourth. Abby Tingley started in the circle, allowing four earned runs on six hits. Alyssa Tingley came in relief and pitched an inning.
The Lions will play in an elimination game tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. against either Huntingdon or Trinity (TX).
