AMCC Women's Basketball Game of the Week:

Saturday, January 23 @ 3:00pm
This week's AMCC women's basketball game of the week features Hilbert College (8-8, 4-5 AMCC) traveling to Mt. Aloysius College (8-8, 5-4) on Saturday afternoon. After not making the post season last year, both teams have surged into playoff contention and are aiming for a strong seeding in the postseason tournament.
The 2015-16 Hilbert College women’s basketball program has seen marked improvement this season under first-year head coach, Melissa Graham. The Hawks, at 4-5 in the league, are two wins away from setting a new AMCC-era win record for the program since Hilbert became a member in 2004-05. Hilbert continues to lead the league with 45.9 rebounds per game and is ranked second with 38.8 percent field goal shooting and 32.1 percent from beyond the arc. The Hawks rely on the one-two punch in the paint of sophomore forward Shannon Rogers and freshman forward Kate Proy. Each average a double-double (14.9/12.7 for Rogers; 13.0/11.1 for Proy) as Rogers leads Division III with 13 double-doubles on the season and the AMCC in rebounds per game. Proy leads the league with 59.1 field goal percentage and 3.0 blocks per game. Junior guard Emily Speidel is ranked 2nd in the league with a 35.3% 3-point field goal average.
The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team currently has an 8-7 overall record, including a 5-4 mark in AMCC action. The Mounties defeated Penn State Behrend last Saturday by a final of 60-52 behind 18 points, six assists and four rebounds off the bench from freshman forward Breana Kendrick before falling to UPG this past Monday despite a team-high 16 points from Kendrick. Mount Aloysius has made its mark on the defensive end this season as the Mounties rank second in the conference in holding their opposition to 34.7 percent shooting from the field while holding opponents to under 60 points per game. In a balanced scoring attack, five players on the Mounties average between 7 and 10 points per game. Sophomore guard Abby Kulick leads the way with 9.5 points per game as she ranks first in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (35.7). Kulick also leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game and 34 steals on the season. Sophomore point guard Alexia Servello has registered 8.8 points and three assists per game. Kendrick (9 points per game), junior center Abbie Zinobile (7.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg), and junior forward Antwayne' Parks (7 ppg, 5.5 rpg) are also threats on the offensive end for the Mounties.
