  • AMCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GAME OF THE WEEK: LA ROCHE @ HILBERT

    The La Roche College Redhawks travel to Hamburg, NY on Saturday to take on the Hilbert College Hawks in the AMCC women's basketball game of the week. La Roche and Hilbert are two of the top women's basketball programs in the AMCC in recent years, as Hilbert is the defending champion and La Roche won the seven titles prior to that. The Redhawks, with an 8-1 conference record, and the Hawks, at 7-2, are currently the top two teams in league standings.

    As the temperatures in January continue to drop throughout the landscape of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be joining forces over the next two weeks to help keep the less fortunate warm this winter.

    Shortly before Christmas, the Pitt-Greensburg men's and women's basketball teams came together to help local families in need by helping pack "chemo comfort totes".

    Cannistraci continued her excellent play last week in a pair of AMCC wins for the Lady Lions. In Thursday night's home victory over Franciscan, she scored 15 points to go along with seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. In Saturday's road win at D'Youville, Cannistraci scored the game-winning layup with six seconds remaining on the clock. She also put up career-highs with 26 points and 16 rebounds to record her seventh double-double of the season, and she also finished the game with three blocks, two assists, and two steals. On the week, she averaged 20.5 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per game, 2.5 blocks per game, 2.0 assists per game, and 1.0 steal per game.

    The Penn State Behrend women's basketball team returns home for the first time since December 16, welcoming Pitt-Greensburg in the AMCC women's basketball game of the week.

    Durand recorded three double-doubles against Carngie Mellon and in the two games were played in California against both Redlands and Chapman. Durand averaged 17.0 points and 16.7 rebounds over the three-game stretch. She pulled in 26 offensive rebounds and 24 defensive over the three games. The sophomore forward currently leads the conference in rebounds per game (11.4) as well as offensive rebounds per game (5.5). Durand posted 24 points and 13 rebounds against Carnegie Mellon, she had 16 points and 16 rebounds against Redlands and finished up with 11 points and 21 rebounds against Chapman. The 21 rebounds are a career-high and are tied for the fifth-most in school history for rebounds in a game.

    Cannistraci had a big day to help lead her team to a win over AMCC opponent Medaille on Sunday. She posted her fourth double-double of the season, putting up game-highs with 22 points and 13 rebounds. She also led all players with three blocks while dishing out two assists and recording one steal.

    Christine had a strong week for the Lady Lions in a pair of close AMCC losses. Against Pitt-Bradford she scored 10 points to go along with nine rebounds and six assists. Versus Penn State Behrend she scored a career-high 30 points (tying for the second-most points in a game in Penn State Altoona women's basketball history) while adding six rebounds, four steals, and three assists. On the week, Christine averaged 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.0 steals.

    The AMCC women's basketball game of the week is a rematch of the 2018 AMCC women's championship game which featured the Hilbert College Hawks and the Mount Aloysius College Mounties. The Mounties are looking for a different outcome this time around, as the Hawks ran away with the 2018 title in a 76-52 victory.

    Ragin led all scorers in both games this week, powering the Panthers to the program's first 2-0 start to conference play since the 2015-16 season. On Wednesday, she dropped a career-high 24 points to lead Pitt-Bradford to a convincing win against Medaille. She went 9-13 from the field while connecting on 3-5 from long range and collecting five steals. Then on Saturday, she dropped a game-best 18 points to lead the Panthers to a win at Behrend. For the week, she averaged 21 points per game and shot 51.9 percent, went 9-12 from the free-throw line, 5-10 from three in 35.5 minutes per game.
  • Breana Kendrick, Mount Aloysius College, Women's Basketball

    Kendrick was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Sisters of Mercy Tournament at Misericordia. Kendrick averaged 17.5 points and eight rebounds per game in the tournament. She recorded a double-double against Gwynedd Mercy, posting 20 points and 12 rebounds. In her two games, Kendrick shot 53.8% from the field, 37.5% from three and 75% at the line.

    Hore continued the red-hot start to her career this past week, nearly recording a quadruple-double in their win on Saturday. On Monday against Elmira, Hore scored a career-high 21 points for her second 20-point game in as many tries this season. She then scored 13 points to go with eight rebounds and six assists on Friday in the team's loss to Brockport. Hore then recorded the best all-around game of her young career on Saturday in the team's 74-63 win over Morrisville. She scored 15 points with 14 rebounds, eight assists, seven steals, and four blocks in the team's second win of the season. The freshman currently leads the team in scoring with 17.3 points per game and rebounding with 9.3 rebounds per game. She also leads the team with 5.8 assists per game, 3.3 steals per game, and 1.3 blocks per game.

    Durand notched a double-double in the first game of the season, scoring 21 points and grabbing 17 rebounds to lead Pitt-Greensburg to a 75-71 victory over Thiel...nine of her 17 rebounds were on the offensive glass...Knocked down 9-of-21 from the floor, totaled three steals, and dished out two assists. 
  • HILBERT EXPECTED TO REPEAT AS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS

    Hilbert College claimed their first AMCC women’s basketball title in program history last season, and are expected to repeat in 2018, according to league coaches.
