La Roche University, winners of nine of the past 11 AMCC women’s basketball championships, are once again expected to defend their league title, according to AMCC coaches. Penn State Behrend, which tied La Roche for the regular season title in 2022, is expected to finish in second, while league coaches expect Pitt-Greensburg to round out the top three.
La Roche senior G Danajah Sanders is the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year. Sanders was an AMCC all-conference second team selection in 2022. She averaged 13.7 points per game, shooting 40.2 percent from the field, and 31.4 percent from behind the arc. Sanders recorded 346 points, 63 assists, and 55 steals a season ago.
The AMCC Championship will be held Saturday, February 25 at the site of the number one seed, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
