PENN STATE BEHREND PICKED AS AMCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PRESEASON FAVORITE
Penn State Behrend, the reigning AMCC regular-season champion who narrowly missed out in the championship game last year, is projected to reclaim the top spot this season. Mount Aloysius College looks poised to challenge, predicted to finish second, while league coaches believe defending tournament champion La Roche University will once again make a strong push, expected to land in third.
Penn State Behrend senior guard Morgan Altavilla has been named the AMCC Women’s Basketball Preseason Player of the Year. Altavilla was an AMCC first team all-conference selection a year ago. She ranked second on the team and fourth in the conference in scoring with 15.8 points per game. She was first in free-throw percentage at 81.8 percent and second in total points scored (443), hitting the 1,000 career point milestone as a junor.
The AMCC Championship will be held Saturday, February 28 at the site of the number one seed, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
